$165B IN FOOD WASTED ANNUALLY IN AMERICA

Americans throw away nearly half of their food every year and waste roughly $165 billion annually according to a study released yesterday. As a country we are essentially tossing every other piece of food that crosses our path. That's money and precious resources that could be used to feed the hungry. Here are some of the report's findings: 40% of the food supply is discarded by Americans each year $2,275 worth of food wasted yearly per person 50% jump in U.S. food waste since the 1970s 25M Americans could be fed yearly with a 15% reduction in waste
