GREAT WEBSITES FOR COLLEGE-BOND TEENS

You likely know the tried and true sites:  Petersons.com and collegeboard.com to
start your search.  There is also Studentaid.edu.gov and finaid.or to learn about
financial aid and commonapp.org to apply to more than 500 colleges with one
application

To these good starting points, add these sites which will help you as you refine
your search and find a college you'll love.

1)  College Navigator (nces.ed.gov)  Chock full of good basic info about colleges.
     
2)  Cappex (cappex.com) Cappex offers a kind of matching service.  You create
      a profile and the site provides schools that you might like.

3)  College Confidential (collegeconfidential.com) Dubbed supermatch  posts
      good advice for teens  but the best part of the site are the discussions boards.

4)  The College Solution (thecollegesolution.com) Advice on how to cut the cost
       of college.

5)  Big Future (bigfuture.collegeboard.org) The site has short articles that cover the
      whole college search process.

6)  Fair Test (fairtest.org)  Site lists school that doesn't require or give much weight to
     ACT or SCAT scores.  At this site, you'll find more than 800 schools that are either
     test optional or test flexible.

7)  NYC College Line (nyccollegeline.org) Designed especially for New Yorkers, this
     site gathers information on a wide range of academic programs created to help
     students get into colleges.

8)  FastWeb (fastweb.com)  Scholarship information - complete a profile and this
      site matches you with scholarships that meet your interests.

9)  Going to College (going-to-college.org)  Developed by Virginia Commonwealth
      this site is geared toward colleg-bound students with disabilities.  It guides
      students through simple and thoughtful self-assessments and then offers
       helpful tip on how to find school with the right fit.
