There is no one score cutoff used by all lenders. It is very
hard to say what a good FICO score is outside of the context
of a particular lending institution because it is usually
institution specific. One auto lender may offer lower
interest rates to people with FICO scores above 680 and
another lender may use 720.
It is important to check your FICO score six month before
you plan to make a major purchase. It is also advisable
to check it annually. This will give you time to verify
the information and correct errors.
A higher FICO score will help you get better credit offers,
lower interest rates and speed up credit approval.
