Here is a Snapshot of Poverty in New York City:
- The poverty rate rose 1.5% from 2009 to 2010
- Food stamp usage rose 17% from 2009 to 2010
- 20%of New Yorkers depend on social services
- New York City's poverty rate is the highest since 2000
- 20.1% of New Yorkers were below the pvoerty line in 2010
- 41.1% of single mother were below the poverty line in 2010
