AMERICA'S NEW POVERTY STATS

The U.S. census figures released yesterday give a picture
of poverty in the U.S. in 2010.

- 49.1 million Americans living in poverty that is 16%
a new record


- 15.9% of Americans age 65 or older are poor


- 28.2% of Hispanics live in poverty
more than any other ethnic group


- $11,139 income per year is the poverty line for individual
$22,314 income per year for a family of four
