ECONOMIC NEWS FOR THE WEEK

It is going to be an exciting week. It is earnings' season
so watch for Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America
and all of the other big Banks and other market movers to
release their earnings. Here are some of the weeks' events:


1) Monday kicks off the monthly Empire State Manufacturing
Survey from the New York Fed. The numbers provide a
glimpse of what is likely to come regarding the broader
economy. Jeffrey Lacker,president of the Richmond Fed
will speak about the economy at the Salisbuy-Wicomico
Economic Development annual meeting and the Chicago Fed
chief will speak at the Michigan Economic Summit.

2) Same store retail sales are first up Tuesday. Economists
worries about inflation when those figures get too high.

The National Association of Home Builders' Housing Market
Index is due outl Fed chairman Ben Bernanke speaks in
Boston about the effects of the recession.

3) The Bureau of Labor Statistics release the Consumer Price
Index on Wednesday, which tracks the cost of things we
buy and how much more (or less) we are paying for them.

The data on housing starte is also on Wednesday, as is
the Energy Information Administration's report on
petroleum inventories. The Federal Reserve will be
releasing the Biege Book too.

4) Unemployment numbers are released by the Department of
Labor on Thursday, followed by the Bloomberg Consumer
Comfort Index.

Existing home sales and the Energy Information
Administration's weekly gas report are also due.

5) Verizon, General Electric, Honeywell, Schlumberger and
most of the big financial will have released their
earnings by Friday.
