The military is warning Congress that if the budget is not passed by March 4th serious repercussions will result. March 4th -- what
happened to November 30th or before Congress ended sessions
for the holiday!!!!
Last December, Congress failed to agree on a budget and
appropriations bill, opting instead for a continuing resolution
to fund the government at the 2010 levels. THE CRITICAL
ELEMENTS MISSING IS ALL OF THIS BUDGETING
ARE WHAT IS THE FUTURE GOALS OF THE MILITARY,
HOW LONG IS THE MAJOR MISSIONS EXPECTED TO TAKE
AND HOW MUCH OF THE BUDGET IS OPERATIONALLY
STATIC AND NEEDED TO SUPPORT DAY-TO-DAY
OPERATIONS. America needs a clear strategy for our military
goals just like any other fiscal goals. The military budget in this
country is huge.
The Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, claims that they are
operating at significantly reduced funding levels under a
continuing full year resolution and continuing this way would
cause severe problems requiring us to curtail critical activities
needed to support our troop and carry out out national
security mission. The military had planned on increase but they
are stuck with last year's spending levels.
Their concerns are very real but what is the strategy and is
Congress on the same page? Budgeting works well when goals
are transparent and when the financial goals and strategies are
alligned and understood. Bipartisan grievances also need to be
put aside and all groups needs to work together for a more
fiscally sound America.
SMART MONEY RULE #4 - KNOW WHAT YOUR FINANCIAL
GOALS ARE AND ENSURE THAT ALL PARTIES
AFFECTED ARE ALLIGNED.
