This week in the morning, I have been working at the 10th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive collecting lightly used coats for redistribution to anyone in need. In the spirit of volunteering, I donated ten winter coats and am sure that I can find some more. The Coat Drive is one until December 31st and is located in NY Penn Station, Grand Central Station, selected NYPD station houses and various other sites around NYC. Also coats can be dropped off at 250 Hudson Street
(212) 807-7606 until the middle of January. What a worthy cause!!! Working there and donating the coats knowing that they will keep someone else warm is such a great feeling!!!
New York Cares is a stellar charity organization that organizes a multitude of events around NYC and its boroughs. I have been a member for over ten years and a team leader for over three. Anyone can join but you must attend a membership orientation session first. The website is www.newyorkcares.org. Once you are a member, you will receive the monthly calender of events and you can pick the ones at which you will volunteer. But hurry - they fill up quickly!!!
